Thoughts on cultural preservation and modernization

Culture is something I am big on and I understand how hard it is for communities to maintain their traditions despite the pressures of globalization and modernization:

And I talk about these because cultural preservation is critical for ensuring that the traditions and practices of different communities are not lost to history.

Therefore, It is the responsibility of all of us to respect and preserve the cultural heritage of our communities and share it with future generations.

Yes, Globalization and modernization have brought many benefits, but they have also put tremendous pressure on traditional ways of life.

In many cases, cultural practices are being lost as people adopt more modern lifestyles and technologies.

However, as I have noticed in my little research many communities around the world are working hard to preserve their cultural traditions.

They recognize the value of their culture and are taking steps to ensure that it is not lost.

A good way that communities can preserve their cultural traditions is by documenting them. This might involve recording stories (folklore), songs, or traditional practices and sharing them with others.

Thank goodness for social media, because it is another good method that some communities are preserving their cultural heritage and ensuring that it gets passed down to younger generations.

These include; festivals, dance steps, crafts, culinary practices, and even language and tonality.

This might also involve teaching traditional practices to children in schools and bringing back history lessons to provide opportunities for young people to learn and engage with their cultural heritage.

I value these as being vital because it helps in preserving heritage and maintain traditions, and it is also essential for promoting diversity and understanding among different communities.

Today we live in an era where some people are trying to force other people to live a certain lifestyle that they are not used to in the name of globalization and accepted norms.

And then you wonder why there is so much division and hostility in the world today despite all the improvements in technology that we have achieved and yet no harmony amongst us.

Because if there is respect for other people's cultures and traditions, then the issues of war, gender pronouns, and many others we are having today may largely not be in existence.

And just to say, I also understand that maybe certain things in some traditions may need to be reviewed because it was assumed based on ignorance, but even in such situations proper evidence of the alternative should be made clear and advised.

This is just a passing thought.

Reality can be manufactured

The concept of reality, traditionally understood as the sum of all that is real or existent, is undergoing a profound re-evaluation in the modern age. With advances in technology, psychology, and media, it has become evident that reality, as perceived by individuals and societies, can be manufactured.  This manufactured reality encompasses altered perceptions, manipulated narratives, and constructed environments, all designed to influence thoughts, behaviors, and beliefs.  This article delves into the mechanisms and implications of manufactured reality, examining historical precedents, modern techniques, and future prospects. Propaganda and Public Perception The notion of shaping reality is not new. Throughout history, leaders and governments have used propaganda to influence public perception and control societal narratives. Ancient empires, such as Rome, used monuments, coins, and public ceremonies to craft an image of power and stability.  In the 20th century, propagan...

The Day I Felt Powerless

Needless to say, I've had my fair share of frustrating situations and unplanned challenges. But the day I felt powerless was by far one of the most unforgettable experiences on that list. It was the day I had a brisk accident while riding my motorbike, descending from a bridge. The incident happened so fast that if someone had sneezed a second before, they would’ve missed the trailer entirely. But to me—the eye of the beholder—the incident didn’t feel fast at all. I can actually recall it in slow motion. It happened when a van in front of me, for whatever reason best known to the driver (which I will never be able to tell), suddenly decided to slow down rapidly and stop right in the middle of the expressway. And just as quickly, after the incident, the van zoomed off. I wasn’t exactly caught off guard—because, like I said, I saw it happening—but by then, I was already too far gone, in the middle of rolling down the bridge myself. I couldn’t do much else but allow the deed to take i...

You will struggle in life if you don’t know this one thing!

Gratitude in this case is a way in which you show appreciation for something that you have or have access to. It’s giving ∼ that if you appreciate something it tends to increase, just like the saying goes ‘what you focus on expands.’ Gratitude can open up big doors for you that you would ordinarily not have access to. It works like magic and even those who enjoy its largesse may never be able to explain its powers fully. However, what I have seen and can say about it is that; When you show genuine appreciation for something, it puts you in a mood which in turn necessitates the happy emotion. Happy emotion is a very powerful vibe that is magnetic. When you meet a person with a happy vibe you can’t help but get a spice up on your mood as well. So, as I was trying to explain… When you show gratitude and start to exude the powerful emotion of happiness, it becomes easy for people to want to associate with you and thus partake in the vibes. This will ultimately lead to you getting support f...
